A collection of experiences, a portfolio of services
Planeta has always combined a passion for Sicily with a desire to welcome those who wish to discover it. The wineries of Menfi, Noto and Etna have never just been spaces dedicated to wine production, but places of hospitality, linked to cuisine, nature and culture.
The hospitality Planeta has created in its wine cellars is conceived as a true collection of experiences tailored to each territory and each guest, linked to the uniqueness of each place, the wines and the beauty of the landscape.
The history of the Planeta family and company was born in Menfi. The first vineyards were planted on the Ulmo estate, just a few metres from Lake Arancio and the 16th century baglio that has been in the family’s possession for 17 generations. Visitors have been warmly welcomed here for 20 years: they discover the origin of their favourite wines, have the opportunity to taste them in combination with the traditional Casa Planeta lunch and explore the paths of the La Segreta forest or the remains of the thousand-year-old Phoenician Palmento accompanied by Planeta staff.

Planeta
Planeta arrived in Noto in 1998, founding the estate in the district that, not by chance, has always been called ‘Buonivini’ (good wines). Here Planeta renovated the small rural dwellings where it is now possible to stay, inside an authentic and essential environment, made comfortable by the furnishings created with recycled materials. After a visit to the “Cantina Invisibile” (the invisible cellar) and a wine tasting, you can have lunch in the rooms of the ancient Palmento or have a picnic in the shade of the carob trees, savouring typical local products.

In 2008, Planeta planted the first vines on Etna’s northern slope and, with careful conservative restoration, transformed the ancient buildings of the Sciaranuova estate into the heart of its hospitality on Etna. The millstone has been transformed into a wine shop and the old house into the large dining room. And among the ancient terraces, a natural amphitheatre is the magical location for the cultural events hosted by Planeta.

With its triple exposure to different seas and winds, Sicily, one of Italy’s two island regions, is unique due to its variety of landscapes, making it a popular destination. Surrounded by volcanoes, mountains mantled in snow, art cities and beaches that rival any tropical destination, nature flourishes, allowing visitors to relish in the diverse cuisine, wines and oils that reflect the region’s diversity and the warm hospitality of its people.
