A family with a great vision

For centuries, voicing Tuscany’s different souls with an eye always turned to innovation.

A family business tied to the land

The history of the Frescobaldi family is almost a thousand years old and closely linked to Tuscany. In 1855, they were the first to plant Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay at Castello Pomino in the woods of the Florentine mountains. In the twentieth century, Vittorio, Ferdinando and Leonardo Frescobaldi laid the foundations for the company’s international growth as we know it today. The current president, Lamberto Frescobaldi, who represents the 30th generation, continues the work of his ancestors, strengthening the personality of each wine so that it can express the uniqueness of the different estates’ terroir, enhancing their diversity.

The history of Tuscan viticulture

The Frescobaldi family originated in Florence around the year 1000.
For over 700 years, they have cultivated the land with passion and respect for tradition. As early as the second half of the 19th century, they produced wines from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines, contributing over the centuries to elevate Tuscany to a place of excellence for viticulture in the world.

Cultivating Toscana Diversity.
Making the most of the Tuscan territory through the production of wines capable of enhancing its potential has always been the mission of the Frescobaldi family. The foresight and skills of the people who, over the centuries, have taken turns at the helm of the family business made it possible. While adopting extremely innovative production methods, the Frescobaldi family has never lost sight of respect for the land and traditions. This is what makes their wines unique.

Where diversity is a strength

The Frescobaldi estates are located in some of the most famous areas of Tuscany: from Chianti Rufina to Montalcino, from Chianti Classico to the Florentine Hills of Montespertoli, from Pomino to the Maremma of Scansano and Magliano, up to the island of Gorgona. The Frescobaldi vineyards are in great-value terroirs, giving the wines a unique personality and typicality. Each estate is an independent production facility with dedicated agronomists and oenologists. You can stay, taste the wines, and visit the estates’ cellars and villas.
