ISWA & Italian Rugby Day: sport and wine in the name of Italian excellence

11 March 2025

In its purest form, sport is closely tied to values such as passion, healthy competition, excellence, determination, and teamwork.

These values align seamlessly with those championed by the ISWA group companies through their products: a focus on quality, tradition, a love for craftsmanship, and a commitment to promoting local heritage.

For this reason, Italian Signature Wines Academy producers enthusiastically contributed their wines to the organization of the Italian Rugby Day – The Passion of Rugby, the Taste of Italy, held on March 7th at the Italian Embassy in London. This event beautifully bridged the worlds of rugby and Italian food and wine, offering an immersive and engaging experience.

As part of the celebration of the connection between sport and wine – two distinct yet equally important elements of Italian culture, both rooted in authentic passion and tradition – attendees participated in a tasting journey that featured wines from prestigious brands such as Allegrini, Arnaldo Caprai, Bellavista, Feudi di San Gregorio, Fontanafredda, Frescobaldi, Masciarelli, Planeta, and Villa Sandi.

The Walk-Around Wine Tasting & Networking allowed guests to explore the best of Italian excellence, representing all corners of the country, through a selection of wines from the main Italian wine regions that ISWA embodies. Industry experts guided guests on this sensory journey, sharing their knowledge and passion for Italian wine.

Throughout the evening, participants also competed in a dynamic Quiz Challenge, testing their knowledge of wine, rugby, and Italy’s culinary traditions. Exclusive prizes were awarded, including prestigious magnums donated by the Italian Signature Wines Academy‘s partner companies.

Born from the collaboration between the Italian Rugby Federation (FIR), the Italian Embassy in London, ICE Agency, ITA Trade Agency, and Veronafiere – Vinitaly, Italian Rugby Day welcomed numerous distinguished guests, including Italy’s Ambassador to the UK, Inigo Lambertini, and the President of the Italian Rugby Federation, Andrea Duodo, alongside prominent Italian athletes such as Mauro Bergamasco.
