24 June 2025

Italian Signature Wines Academy once again reaffirms its commitment to promoting the excellence of Italian wine on the international stage, with an exclusive masterclass held at the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz, in Switzerland.

Hosted on July 16th in this prestigious venue—renowned across Europe for its fine dining and hospitality, boasting 6 Michelin Stars, 1 Green Star, and 76 GaultMillau points—the masterclass featured wines from the ISWA member estates: Allegrini, Bellavista, Arnaldo Caprai, Feudi di San Gregorio, Fontanafredda, Marchesi Frescobaldi, Masciarelli, Planeta and Villa Sandi.

The event, attended by internationally acclaimed top sommeliers, included a walk-around tasting and a lunch, where old vintages icon wines from each winery were paired with the signature cuisine of Michelin-starred restaurant Verve by Sven, with custom-designed pairings created specifically for the occasion.

Leading the day was Sascha Speicher, editor-in-chief of Meiningers Sommelier and creator of major industry events such as Finest 100 and the Sommelier Summit.

“A Journey into Italian Excellence stands as a further testament to ISWA’s ongoing efforts to champion high-quality Italian wine worldwide. The event brought together twenty top sommeliers from Switzerland, Austria, and neighboring German-speaking regions—markets that are culturally close and particularly receptive to the quality, authenticity, and richness of Italian wine heritage. It offered a valuable opportunity for exchange, relationship-building, and in-depth discovery, aimed at strengthening our dialogue with key stakeholders in high-potential export markets, commented Gloria Mainella, Director of Italian Signature Wines Academy.
